The NVIDIA Kepler architecture introduces the concept of bindless textures, which enables the GPU to reference textures directly in memory.?This effectively eliminates the limit on the number of unique textures that can be used to render a scene, and reduces the CPU overhead to deliver improved performance. In fact, over one million unique textures are now possible. Fast approximate anti-aliasing (FXAA) and temporal anti-aliasing (TXAA)? film-style technologies give you outstanding image quality for content creation and design reviews without compromising the interactive experience.

Windows 8 released to manufacturing, on schedule for October 26 release.

ImageWindows 8 has reached the release-to-manufacturing (RTM) milestone. Over the next few days, Microsoft’s OEMs will install Windows 8 RTM (build 9200) on a slew of upcoming laptops, ultrabooks, desktops, and tablets, and begin the difficult task of shoving bloatware down Metro’s throat until it’s just kilobytes away from exploding and splattering the world with primary-colored squares. Then, come October 26, Windows 8, OEM machines, and Microsoft’s own-brand Surface tablet, will be made available to the public

DNS Changer Virus

22 Jul

I am going to start referring to the DNS Changer Virus as “The Virus That Almost Wasn’t”.  When news of this virus came about awhile ago there were speculations of it taking millions of computers off line and total devastation. But, then the more you read about it the more you were informed how to protect yourself. There were sites set up that you could actually visit and find out if you were going to be effected. Heck, you got a nice big screen that would say “GREEN” and you knew you’d be safe. It really can’t get much easier that that. Most of the time a virus or some malware hits and you are just automatically effected and there is nothing you can do about it prior. But, in this case people were given ample opportunity to make sure it would not effect them. As of a day ago I read a report that said “Some 210,000 computers worldwide remained infected as of Sunday, including more than 41,000 in the United States, according to a working group monitoring the problem.” Now to me those numbers are not that high for something that was given so much publicity. I read somewhere else that in Canada it effected less than 1% of the population.

In reality we are never going to stop virus’s from happening or forms of malware getting on our computers and doing possible damage. But, in cases like the DNS Changer Virus where we were all given notice on how to protect ourselves then we need to heed that advice and doing something about it. I am actually pretty proud to say none of our past customers that I am aware of had a problem with this virus. We sent out notices, links to check ahead of time and utilized social media to get ahold of our customers. Now if all virus’s and malware gave us this kinds of heads up we would probably be out of business but it’s all good for the customers.

Let’s just hope that the next time a virus like this comes about that maybe the virus creator themselves will even give us all a heads up so we can do even better.
